In 2023 over 600,000 more people fell into absolute poverty, of which over half were children.
The total number of people in the UK experiencing poverty today stands at 14.4 million, 22% of the UK population.
It is estimated an extra 1.5 million people, including 400,000 children, would be in relative poverty 2029/30, if no policy changes were made.
Existing organisations are struggling to meet the rising demand, as people make tough decisions to heat their homes or feed themselves.
